Five years ago, they met as undergrads at UIUC. Jane Addams Book Shop in downtown Champaign was one of the places they went on their first dates.
So when he started planning his proposal, he chose to bring her back to a place that was already part of their story.

We talked through the plans beforehand, and I helped with a few recommendations leading up to the proposal.
There was something especially meaningful about photographing this moment in the same bookstore that had been part of their relationship from the beginning.

Jane Addams Book Shop made such a fun and personal setting for their engagement photos. Surrounded by shelves of books, we kept things relaxed and natural, focusing less on posing and more on the two of them simply being together.
What I loved most about this session was that the location wasn’t chosen just because it would look beautiful in photos. It already meant something to them.
Five years after meeting at UIUC, they returned to one of their early date spots to celebrate a completely new moment in their lives.

If you’re planning a surprise proposal in Champaign-Urbana, I’m happy to help with location ideas, timing, and photography planning so you can focus on the moment itself.
